We woke up to rain and so that changed the plans for the day. As always, we are being as flexible as God needs us to be. The majority of the group headed to a large warehouse downtown that houses a missions organization. That group was split into two teams - one painting a room in the building and another ripping apart pallets to be reused for furniture and decoration. The other team members stayed at camp and did some organization and cleaning. They then got to spend some time with some elderly that came to game day at the Annex (the base). The team that went to the warehouse got the opportunity to visit the Birmingham Civil Rights Institute. What a great time of learning about the civil rights movement in Birmingham and the United States! It is right across the street from the 16th Street Baptist Church where 4 young girls were killed in a bombing. I feel so fortunate that we were able to take time to observe this historical museum.
After dinner we talked about the week to this point and Philippians 3. It was a great night of truth, study, encouragement, and prayer. One of our team, Jerra, knew something was stirring in her and took the step of taking Jesus and faith from her head to her heart! What a great time of celebrating her next steps of faith.
Our team seems to be connecting tonight more than they have to this point. I am sure that the Spirit is still at work as we continue to live open-handed and press into Him.
We anticipate a great finish to the week tomorrow as we work at Tommy's and begin siding at the Chapmon's. Stay warm and stay safe back home.
All for Him -
