this group is made up of 13 different churches, i know this because we counted tonight. isn't that just awesome?!!! that fact in itself just blows my mind. just think about it for a second. 13 different churches that do things differently than each other, some having different traditions, some having different views on issues. that combination could spell disaster . but when you unite under one love for One God and vow to fight for each other, you don't see any other label except brother and sister when you look at each other. it was beautiful and it was exactly what God has planned.
as we sat in encouragement night aaron started talking about throwing his rock in the ocean. we challenged the kids to find a rock, write something that God was challenging them to get rid of and throw it in the ocean. it's just a cool time of symbolism where they can connect with God and make some vows that they will constantly think about and strive for. Aaron's was awesome. he said that he just wrote his name, his birth year-2013. he said that that was it, the old aaron was what he was throwing in the ocean and the new aaron is what is coming home. and then ked asked everyone to stand up that made a new life dedication down here and so many kids stood up!
the kid you sent with us is coming back a soldier from war. there are challenges that all of them will face because they are going to be coming back to a life where their piece of the puzzle doesn't quite fit anymore. this is a huge challenge that they will face and others around them as they try to hang on to what God did to them here. max told me tonight that he had an analogy to go with it. we are either a circle forcing ourselves into a square life. we will force ourselves to fit only to find our edges are dulling or we can be a square trying to fit into a circle life and by forcing it, the edges of our square will tear the edges open of our old lives and a new life will form. it will be about them choosing it over and over everyday. it is about them being intentional to choose God over their friends, their comforts, their desires and instead filter every choice and decision through the lens of Jesus. i know that this sounds like high expectations, you may think it is impossible for high school kids to actually want and choose this, but i have no doubt in what they can do, not them their selves, but the Holy Spirit through them. o it's gonna happen, and when it does, be ready to be blown away by the confidence in a God that can not only make a sea rage with passion, but just as quickly, speak it into submission.
once again THANK YOU!! from the bottom of my heart, i have treasured getting to know, serve with and luv on your kids! i want to find the words but i can't...literally i am sitting here with my heart so full of an emotion that i can't explain. i sit in awe of God orchestrating this whole thing. not just starting in august 2013, ,but starting in august, 1993 when i first stepped foot into Norwell High School. He knew the paths i would take to bring me to where i am today, and in His unmatchless Power He chose for my path to cross yet once again with kids from Norwell. it's like my testimony has come full circle...a circle that could only be completed by my Jesus!
i am praising Him tonight...
luv to you all...see you in a few hours!!
